The seminar addressed the interpersonal aspects of project management, and was one of the first seminars for many of the attendees on this people side of project management. Experienced translator Ms. Masha Klavdieva from Moscow provided a running translation during the seminar, translating into Russian. Dr.Flannes’ first book, People Skills for Project Managers, which had previously been translated into Russian, was made available for the attendees.
Each day, before the start of the seminar, Dr. Flannes and Mr. Butler were the subjects of press conferences, in which writers for Ukrainian newspapers as well as Ukrainian business magazines asked a wide range of questions. Many of the questions focused on how best to resolve conflict in ways that preserve team unity while also encouraging an open expression of different points of view.

Other questions addressed the perceived challenges faced by a Ukrainian business community that is growing rapidly, and how best to integrate within such rapid expansion business best practices coming from the West.
Interestingly, other questions and comments addressed the subject of the dramatic mindset shift from the remnants of a Soviet economy to an economy that is becoming much more entrepreneurial and market driven.
